MARCH - Heal Apathy

Apathy is the terrible sensation of being in a black hole. When you are apathetic, you don't care what happens today or tomorrow, you are numb, feeling nothing but the impression that you are spiraling backward through a bleak darkness. It is not always defined as boredom, lethargy or laziness. You may be fully functioning, but your indifference, lack of concern a, and inability to conjure an emotion of any reasonable size has begun to really scare you.
I believe it is the gentle fragile souls (like love or creation itself), who feel deep pain and are ultra sensitive, who fall into the trap of apathy. They have felt so much pain that they cannot stand it, and they shut off the best they can. Thoughts such as, "Why would you hurt me? I"m not as tough as I appear!" flash through their minds as they try to make sense of the world. I remember, at age fourteen, wanting to just shut off my emotions like a water faucet. But humans are not meant to be detached.
Experiments have shown that lack of physical touch leads to depression and apathy. Walk through the fire; you will be okay. If you try to block it out, you will most likely only succeed in building pressure that eventually need release. But by being a channel and allowing the pain to pass through you and not attach, just breathing though it (like in yoga), you can gain compassion and feeling. You probably are going to be a real gift to people - helping others. First you have to help yourself. Just because you feel fear, doesn't mean it has to stop you.
Getting back to feelings begins with little steps. Let yourself feel anything you can. To rejoin the land of the living, cast this spell on the night of a new moon or on a Friday. Light a green candle. Green is the color of your heart chakra (one of the seven energy centers located throughout your body). It is an auspicious or favorable place to be begin a much-needed and important healing. According to A Course in Miracles, the most sacred of all places is where love abides where an ancient hatred once stood.
By the light of the candle, make a list on a piece of paper of your favorite childhood activities, especially the silly and timeless ones. If you draw a blank, write down some of these: rolling down a grassy hill, running through sprinklers, climbing trees, swimming by moonlight, eating Jell-O with your fingers, belly laughing with your best friend to nothing at all, or rereading your favorite book.
Imagine yourself doing these activities. Fold your list and place the paper inside a green cloth. Note grate half of a crayon from every color of the rainbow. Mix one drop of peppermint oil, a bit of grated ginger and the crayon bits into the pouch. Chant
I am the light. I am the love. I now feel the warmth from above I am alive and will begin to feel All that I need to know I am real I am the light from the Mother below I am the love which now will show.
Tie the pouch with a red ribbon and place the pouch on your altar next to the green candle. Once you have cast the spell, reach out and literally touch your friends and family for a week. Just graze your friend's arm as you pass by, hold your parent's hand, or place your hand on your sister or brother's hand when you talk to them. Visit your altar every day for a week, take three deep breaths and repeat the chant.
