JUNE -- Say Goodbye to June Gloom Spell

Summer is coming!! Yeah! Summer is the longest day of the year, no matter where you live. (Though of course, if you are below the equator, summer is at a different time of year). Anyway, the point is that the sun has reached it's strength on the first day of Summer (June 20 this year). It is the highest in the sky and though days will continue to be warm, after this the sun's time in the sky becomes less and less each day until the longest night of the year on teh first day of winter. So while summer is a time of abundance, it is also a time to remember that nothing everything lasts forever. Life is about change, so you might as well get used to it. And the best way to get used to change is to let things go. You know how it is when you're wardrobe becomes a drag, so you have a garage sale or take your stuff to the Salvation Army, and viola, there's tons of room in the closet and some greenies in your jeanies to buy something new and wonderful.

But let's dig a little deeper. How's about you think of something that you need to let go of in order to become a happier person. It might be time to let go of that tendency to take on other people's burdens, or jealousy, or biting your nails, or berating yourself for every little thing. Since Summer Solstice is a fire holiday, in a safe place and supervision if you are younger than 18, light a fire in a fireplace or at a fire ring. Write down the things you want to let go of and fold the piece of paper away from you. Throw the paper into the fire and repeat three times. "I release to the fire what I no longer desire." Now for a few minutes concentrate on the wonders of your life now that your're rid of that pesky obstacle.

Sometimes these habits take more than one try to get rid of (it's like they've got fly paper stuck on them). Don't get discouraged, but keep letting go and soon enough you'll be free to be whatever you want to be.
